We owe less than that on my current car. I bet I could sell my Taurus for at least that much. I'll float this by the wife, but I don't have nearly 2 kilobucks sitting around with nothing to do.

Ah. If you have a proven car right now and would trade it in for this then I wouldn't do it, who knows what might lingering in that thing that would take a few extra bucks to fix.

Must sell in the subject line basically means they'll take less than the asking price too.

If my current ride was paid off I'd be all over it.

Another one will pop up eventually, I've noticed Volvos are pretty common here on the east coast

Yup. There's even a "Vintage Volvo" guy in the next town over from me.

If you don't do it, I might. Looks pretty decent, and even though my kids won't be driving for another 6 years, this is what they'll be driving.....

Nice, that is a pretty rare little car. I have always wanted to have a Volvo but the opportunity never presented itself for me.

Sounds like a good plan - buy it, then spend the intervening years fixing it up with the kids. even if you muck something up, it doesn't matter because nobody's depending on the car. It's a great way to learn maintenance and basic mechanical skills.

Just a heads-up, this one is packing some rust underneath. I looked into it a few months ago myself but the pics the owner sent of the underside were less than promising. If you're okay with that and aren't planning on keeping it longterm I'd still say go for it, every 240 deserves a good home!
